TONIGHT’S the night when the winners of the Gulf Weekly/Citroen-sponsored Bahrain Ladies League First Division will be decided.
The penultimate matches took place this week, with the results confirming that the Arsenal U21s will finish in third place, a very creditable performance from this fast developing young team.
Despite losing to table toppers Venus 5-2, the girls fought hard and played some excellent football, but the brilliant skills of Staz Salinas, with a brace, and Zain Al Khalifa’s hat-trick, outscored the efforts of Latifa Al Khalifa and Aya Belbeisi.
In a very competitive, but fair match, the action was end-to-end, with superb saves from both goalkeepers and some fabulous finishing.
In the second game, Seef Dental and Joga TFA fought out a 1-1 draw, a great result for the Seef girls who had lost the earlier fixture heavily.
An Alaa Al Dirazi opener was cancelled out by a Karin Amber equaliser, and despite chances at both ends, no more goals were added, giving the teams a share of the points.
Tonight, the U21s play Seef Dental and Venus will play the Arsenal Ladies to decide the title.
The matches will be followed by the presentation of the awards, including the coveted Gulf Weekly/ Citroen trophy and medals, and the Girl of the Season which is voted on by the players.
