The Whisperer

Disgruntled golf-playing frequent flyers on Emirates are now being charged to take their beloved golf clubs on holiday.

One couple travelled to Kenya from Bahrain in the spring and the golf clubs went free, which was a major reason why they chose the airline.

However, when they booked tickets to the UK for them and their son – who are all keen golfers – they found out that the rules had changed without warning.

“I remember other airlines, such as Gulf Air, doing the same thing a few years ago and changing this rule back due to customer dissatisfaction with the decision – they listened to their customers and acted accordingly!” my friend told me.

“I find it quite ironic that Dubai promotes itself as a golfing destination and has smiling stewardesses under Emirates umbrellas at many large golf tournaments and now has penalised the very same people that have been supporting the airline for many years.”

He has asked the airline to reverse its stand, although there was no reported change of heart in time for the family’s flight on Monday.
