KIMS Bahrain Medical Centre (KBMC) officials have vowed to continue providing healthcare service excellence in the kingdom and to maintain its leading role in serving the community with the launch of a loyalty card as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations.

The Kims Care Card was unveiled by chairman Ahmed Jawahery, vice-chairman Dr MI Sahadulla, and directors CH Raheem, Shaikh Hamad Al Khalifa and Jacob Thomas, of KBMC, during a press conference at the K Hotel where it was revealed that a fourth centre is coming up in Saar shortly and plans for a fifth centre in Muharraq are being studied.

KBMC is the first GCC franchisee of Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (Kims) Group and later expanded to other GCC countries with a total of nine hospitals and medical centres in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and the UAE.

It opened its doors on July 25, 2004, in Umm Al Hassam starting off with two doctors and by the end of its first year, it expanded to contain nine departments. Today it employs more than 93 staff including 20 doctors across 13 specialties. It has 16 OPD (out-patient department) rooms, six tgreatment rooms and a Minor OT (operation theatre).

KBMC is also the first centre in the GCC that has gained the Australian Council of Healthcare Standard International (ACHSI) accreditation.

“It has been 10 fruitful years of success, gained through the incredible dedication of our management and medical staff. We will continue to be committed to providing the highest level of care to the society, utilising some of the most talented physicians and innovative technology,” he said.

Expressing his delight on the occasion, Dr Sahadulla added: “I am very proud to be part of this successful organisation. Since it was established in 2004, KBMC has been a cutting-edge health care provider offering the services of the most experienced and qualified medical team in addition to high-end medical equipment. KBMC has come a long way to reach where we are today following its vision to provide quality healthcare at affordable cost,” he said.

Regarding the loyalty card scheme, Mr Jawahery said: “This is a token of our gratitude towards 50 loyal patients who have been with us from the beginning of the centre. This card will make them eligible for a free yearly health checkup; 20 per cent discount on consultations, laboratory and radiology tests; 10 per cent off on inpatient services and three per cent discount on pharmacy purchases. These benefits are valid throughout the life of the patient.”

Dr Sahadulla added: “We are also offering significant discounts on consultations for the month of October for all patients as part of the 10th anniversary celebration.”

The Kims Group employs 5,000 staff across its global operations including 600 doctors – 175 in the Gulf – and 1,100 nurses; and its global revenue is $150 million, of which $60 million is from the GCC.

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, during his recent visit to India, hailed the group as the biggest Indo-Bahrain investor in healthcare in the kingdom.

It also boasts of 25 per cent Bahrainisation at its four centres in Bahrain and has trained numerous nationals as nurses and many of who have moved on to other hospitals and medical centres, added Mr Jawahery.

The centre has 250,000 registrations till date with 15,000 OPD visits monthly and 1.2 million cumulative patient visits.

Dr Sahadulla also pointed out the group’s charitable endeavours. “This Ramadan alone, we provided free treatment worth BD10,000 for orphans and widows in co-ordination with the Royal Charity Organisation. We have also provided treatment for needy patients at discounted rates whenever they were referred to us by other hospitals.”
