Chipping with a hybrid club

Golf is a game of luck and some days are luckier than others. If you are unfortunate enough to land close to the green and, you are in long grass you can consider the chip shot with a hybrid club.

The normal choice when only a few feet from the edge would be to use a putter, but in this case the long grass can easily deflect the ball off line. The next choice is a chip shot with a lofted club if you are confident in your technique. If not, why not try a chip with a hybrid club. The shape of the clubhead is ideal to go through longer grass without catching. Remember these key points:
* Hold further down for greater control.
* Set up with your putting stance.
* Make your normal putting stroke and allow the loft of the club to lift the ball on to the green.
* Generally the ball will come off the face a bit quicker than a regular putt, so allow for the ball to roll.

Some time spent on the practice green will enable you to develop a feel for this special shot!
