More than 400 supporters attended a Pink Masquerade evening with the aim of raising the profile of the annual breast cancer awareness campaign throughout this month and to support a vital mission to reach out to the community.

All proceeds from the event will go towards the American Mission Hospital’s (AMH) ongoing plans to support free breast cancer screening in Bahrain.

The Pink Masquerade Charity Fashion Show, held under the patronage of Dr Fatima Al Baloushi, Minister of Social Development, took place at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa and guests enjoyed a delightful show featuring young dancers and the latest stylist clothing lines.

Bahnaz Abbas, American Mission Hospital’s senior manager of fundraising, marketing and community, said: “As part of our continuing community outreach, we are focusing on spreading awareness of one of the most common cancers which affects millions of women each year.

“Through this programme and the sponsorship of many local companies, we hope to make the women of Bahrain conscious of this disease and educate them on how to help themselves and hopefully reduce their risk.

“We would like to thank our sponsors of this event without whom it would be impossible to hold an event of this magnitude. We also give special thanks to Orayb Bubshait and to all the models that put in their time and effort to make this show a success. We give great appreciation to the hotel too for their generous sponsorship and professionalism which made this event a pleasure to organise.”

All donations on the night alongside the proceeds from the BD20-a-head ticket sales and raffle will be used to support the initiative. The AMH breast cancer awareness programme involves visits at social centres across Bahrain with free screening provided as well as educational initiatives to promote awareness to young women at various government girl’s schools as early detection of breast cancer is a vital aspect to ensure lives are saved.

Alongside the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa, the organisers also gave special thanks to Jawad Group, including Origem, Monsoon, The White Company, Hobbs, Lakeland, Quiz, and Credimax, Gulf Pharmacy, Banagas, A&E, Aysha & Yousuf Al Moayyed Charity Welfare, E. K Kanoo, American Express, Al Hawaj, Jac Motors, Al Arayedh Group, Max Factor, Gloss Salon and Spa, Zumorrod, Shiseido, Swiss food specialties and Seba Med for their support.
