The House of Uniforms is celebrating the opening of its latest store located on two storeys in Tala Plaza, Segaiya. The spacious outlet provides school uniforms as well as working attire for nurses, doctors and domestic staff.

I decided to pay a visit to the new location and found its rustic charm and clever open design concept a real treat for the shopper. The interior is a work of art itself and congratulations should go to its mastermind Yacoob Jawad, the general manager of the company, who is responsible for the whole look.

Everything from the furniture, layout and branding was under his vision, from the energy-saving LED lighting to the recycled material used for the furniture.

Even the shelving has been made from re-used scaffolding planks saved from a scrapyard and the tables are made with round wooden industrial cable spools that give the concept an interesting backyard touch.

“I designed this store with the concept of making the most of what you have and I have put a strong Arabic touch, as well, because we are a proud Bahraini brand and want to promote that in any way we can,” explained Mr Jawad.

On the second floor there is a wall space saved for local street photographers to display their images to pay tribute to the kingdom’s heritage.

Alongside changing rooms and a board room there is a master workshop where the main tailor is stationed with all his fabric, badges and drawing table.

As you would excect the store is full of every conceivable uniform, whether it’s a lab coat or culinary frock, or school attire.

There will be a grand opening sale in the new location that will run through the month of November offering 30 per cent off various items. The sale will also include winter items such as jumpers, socks, trousers and tights for the cooler weather.

Before leaving, I ran into the owner and founder of the company, Naty Canaveras Martinez, who commented about her son’s new venture: “This is wonderful – I’m very proud of him.”

The next step is the re-organisation of the company’s Andalus Garden premises and the revamp at its Hoora location.

Other deals I’m privy to:
Oysho – Shop now with BD65 at Oysho City Centre Bahrain & attend the Oysho Health-A-Thon private event at Fitness First.
