The season kick-started from a walk into a gallop at the weekend with the news that Genevive Joyce Equine Manual Therapy and her magic hands, after another successful trip, will be back in January.

Karin Rosenlew and Martina Boor, experienced saddle fitters from Horseworld of Dubai, held a seminar on Friday morning, based on learning to recognise an ill-fitting saddle, explaining the necessity and concepts of a good saddle fit and the huge importance it has for both riders and their horses.

Just imagine having to wear ill-fitting trainers and then being asked to run a marathon or do an exercise class giving someone a piggy back! The analogy is the same.

The Dilmun Club Stables Open Show Jumping Event was staged on Friday afternoon. Three classes were held. The first, a timed, cross poles-clear round, meant to encourage the next generation of riders, saw Georgia Sim with Luvly Jubbly claim her first victory of the day. And she followed it with top spot in the 60cm class.

Muslim Ali was also a double-winner with triumphs in the 60cm challenge for the adults and the mixed 90cm speed class.

Twin Palms Riding Centre’s inaugural In-House Dressage Event, saw five classes run in three arenas. Good organisation was key, making the day a huge success.

Clinching first place in the Working Equitation for the Juniors was Immy Rushton riding Bling; the Preliminary for school horses was won by Imogen Nell riding Mohito; and for the private horses it was Mariella Forward who took top podium place.

Mariella made it a double whammy for the day astride No Tricks winning the Mixed Novice.

Winning the Preliminary class for the adults was Kia Ballet who gave a stunning performance on Joker.  Dressage is very much in the forefront with an Open Day planned for November 14. There will be two quadrille demonstrations – dressage to music performed by multiple horses and riders. They are not to be missed.
