Staying in shape has just become easier with SportsOne, a multi-brand sporting goods store from Al Rashid Group.

This concept has now opened at two convenient locations, Oasis Centre Muharraq and Oasis Centre East Riffa. It indicates another aggressive step from this retailer towards achieving its regional target of 40 outlets by 2016.

I had a chance to do a walk-through in the new 10,000 sq/ft Riffa location with marketing manager, Sushant Vithaldas, and saw firsthand the various products it has available to keep you ‘fit and fine’.

First off, I was pumped about its dedicated sport sections for football, women’s fitness, racquet sports, basketball, cycling, skating and range of home-gym equipment. It sells at least 100 popular brands and a vast portfolio of apparel and footwear goods for men, women and children.

The football section was particularly enticing because of the clever merchandising and range. It has matching kits and balls with specialised football boots and an interactive section with green turf for an impromptu kick about.

It was exciting to see it carried unique yoga clothing Soybu within its massive women’s fitness section. I bought a pair of pink and grey stretch pants for BD17.200 and they fit like a glove. I’m going back for the matching jacket, socks and shoes for the full ‘Soybu’ look soon. This American brand has a reputation for making clothing that maintains its stretch and keeps fresh and new even after multiple washing.

There is a large gym section with everything you need from treadmills to kettle balls and a full installation and service are available when needed. This place is a one-stop sport shop that will help restring your racket, adjust your new bike and even pump up your sport balls.

SportsOne carries leading brands like Adidas, Nike, Puma, Reebok, Babolat, Spalding, Asics, Wilson, Prince, ProForm, Speedo, Vans, Etnies, Giant, Jansport, Razor, Head, Mikasa, O’Dun, Li-ning, TKO, Dunlop, Oakley and many more.
