Gulf Weekly Dana and Hana star in Venus victory

Venus Ladies took revenge on the Arsenal U21s this week, reversing the score of the first encounter between the teams.

It looked at first as though the younger girls were going to repeat their feat of earlier in the season when hotshot Phoebe License scored a fantastic goal in the third minute, and then hit an absolute screamer of a shot from 30 yards which spectactors thought was going into the bottom corner and possibly breaking the net!

Dana Noor, the Venus goalkeeper, had other ideas though, and somehow managed to get down to the shot and tip it away for a corner for what was certainly the most stunning save of the season so far.

Seconds later, she was at it again, keeping out another goal-bound effort. Her teammates seemed to take heart from Dana’s heroics, and came more and more into the game.

And, from what looked like a struggle, they managed to turn it around with a brace of goals from Hana Aburoos before half time. In the second half, Hana notched her hat-trick and Fatima Mahmoud scored in the very last minute to secure the side second spot in the table.

Following their thrilling 2-2 draw earlier in the season, the Seef Dental clash with RCSI was always going to be a tight affair and so it proved. RCSI are the GulfWeekly Ladies Football League’s most improved team, and Seef do not concede many goals.

As a result, just one goal settled the game, scored by Sara Jalal in the sixth minute. Try as they might, prompted by player coach Alana McConologue, RCSI could not break down the Seef defence, and so the two teams are now level in the table on four points each with a game to play.

RCSI take on the Arsenal U21s next, while the Arsenal Ladies need a point from their game against Venus to take the title, but you can be sure that the Venus Ladies will not give up their title easily!
