Clubhead speed

Provided that a player can make a solid impact with the club in a good position, swings through on a good line and approaches the ball on the correct angle, there is no reason not to try and improve one’s clubhead speed for shots that fly high and long.
To test your clubhead speed at home or on the range, try this drill:
l Pick up your driver and hold it upside down, so your hands are near the club head end and the grip end is a few inches off the ground.
l Establish a solid stance, ensuring your posture is good and that your arms hang directly down from the shoulders.
l With a soft hold and relaxed arms make a slow, measured backswing.
l The key to the speed is to allow your hips to turn in the forward swing and to try and ‘swish’ the shaft over the point where the ball would sit.
Practice this move a few times to ensure you hear the noise, being careful you don’t hear it before or after the normal point of impact.
