Gulf Weekly Lane triumphs in Captains’ Day event

Rob Lane narrowly claimed victory in the Royal Golf Club’s (RGC) annual Captains’ Day sponsored by VIVA with a score of 35 points. Barry Hobday was named runner-up after a countback was needed to separate the two as he also finished with 35 points.
Robert Timmers took the top spot in the second category of the individual stableford competition with a score of 36 points and Nayel Al Borshaid was second with 34. Ashley Price had a highly successful weekend winning category three of the competition with 31 points having successfully won division two of the Euro Motors BMW Medal Series Grand Final earlier.
More than 65 competitors took part in the popular members’ tournament which was played on the club’s challenging Montgomerie championship course and concluded with a prize-giving ceremony and buffet lunch courtesy of VIVA.
The winners of the Captains’ Match Play competitions were also honoured at the awards ceremony. Ben Elsworth won the gent’s match play division while Debbie Lane won the ladies. The individual match play competitions were played in May and June.

Category 1 (handicap 9 and under): 1st Rob Lane (35 c/b), 2nd Barry Hobday (35). Category 2 (handicap 10 – 18): 1st Robert Timmers (36), 2nd Nayel Al Borshaid (34). Category 3 (handicap 19+): 1st Ashley Price (31), 2nd Jeong Hae Kwak (31).
