The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) recently promoted two of its Bahraini employees to superintendent level.
President Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery announced the promotions of Dr Ahmed Bucheeri as training and development superintendent and Redha Memari as technical support superintendent.
Dr Bucheeri holds a doctorate and a master’s in mechanical engineering, both from the University of Ibaraki in Japan. He has also done his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bahrain and has worked as an academic researcher at the University of Ibaraki.
Before joining the GPIC last year, he was assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bahrain. Dr Bucheeri has published research related to the board of specialisation and presented papers at many scientific conferences within and outside Bahrain.
Mr Memari has a master’s in Systems Information Technology and Computer Science from the National University and a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from the University of Bahrain. He has worked in several positions in GPIC’s IT department.
Omar Farid has been appointed as new director of sales of Sheraton Bahrain Hotel. Farid is an Egyptian national who holds a BA in Hospitality Management. He started his hospitality career in 1996 by joining Sheraton EL Gezirah as GSA trainee followed by Sheraton Cairo Hotel Towers & Casino back in 2001 as sales executive.
He was promoted within the same property as sales manager and deputy director of sales before being appointed director of sales at Le Meridien Jeddah in 2011. In his new role, Farid will be responsible for leading and improving all aspects of the hotel’s sales efforts.
