RACE fans will get the chance to sizzle and chill as the great annual grand prix roadshow rocks into town.

Alongside all the Formula One action on the Sakhir track, organisers have plans to bring icy entertainment to the desert and it’s sNOw joke!

The 2015 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix taking place on April 17, 18 and 19 aims to ‘Light Up The Night’ with a series of shows across the kingdom as well as setting up a sensational snow village for fans to enjoy over the weekend.

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) chief executive officer Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa said: “It will be hard to emulate our success from last year, but we are well-prepared as always and I believe we have put together a fantastic package of both racing and entertainment.”

In the build-up to the main attraction, the BIC will stage four main ‘Race Fever’ events, including a prize raffle draw and concerts.

The celebration begins on March 20 with a tour around the island showcasing three Jaguar cars and their promotional teams. Next on the agenda will be a raffle draw on March 27. All those with tickets to the race will be automatically entered into the draw for a chance to win a 2015 Jaguar F-Type.

On April 2, an extreme motorbike show will be staged in Amwaj islands featuring the Red Bull X Fighter Jam. That will then pave the way for back-to-back live concerts the following week.

British pop chart-topping boy-band The Vamps, consisting of Brad Simpson, James McVey, Connor Ball and Tristan Evans, have appeared live at several high-profile festivals and supported The Wanted, JLS, Little Mix, Lawson and Demi Lovato.

Hits include Can We Dance and Wild Heart and the heartthrob foursome have been compared to One Direction. They will be entertaining F1 ticket holders on April 11, followed by a set from Swedish DJ and music producer, Otto Knows.

The 26-year-old, who has had a number of hits in Europe has collaborated with artists including Britney Spears, Avicii, Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso.

During the three-day race festival, the BIC will also be staging a wide array of family friendly entertainment at the Formula 1 Village such as carnival games, miniature rides, bouncy castles, extreme rides, live stage shows, roaming performers and an F1 Game Zone which has proven to be very popular in the past.

But perhaps the most talk-about attraction to grace the island will be the Snow Village – a tent that includes a 10mx10m synthetic ice rink, a 300sq/m snow garden, a 240sq/m cross-country skiing area, a climbing wall and a freestyle slide.

It will not be the first time that a hot and humid location has called in the icy weather as a tourist attraction. For example, a wintery wonderland has been set up in Mexico City’s historic centre and a similar attraction drew large crowds in Qatar.
