VIVA Bahrain has unveiled its Fereej VIVA initiative, a social responsibility project to be deployed in partnership with the Ministry of Housing.

The sustainable community project will encompass various social programmes. The first project will see the telecommunications company furnishing 40 housing units in Muharraq, built by the Ministry of Housing with the aim of benefitting Bahraini women, including divorcees and widows, who have been selected based on their financial status.

Minister of Housing Basim Bin Yacob Al Hamer expressed his delight with the partnership. He said: “Such initiatives led by the private sector highlight the level of awareness companies give to their role in helping the community. The social responsibility programmes of the private sector is considered one of the main pillars that assist the government’s continuous efforts to support community growth.

“The Ministry of Housing supports and encourages such initiatives and looks forward to partnering with the private sector to further extend a helping hand to the different segments of the community. Our aim is to provide the best and finest appropriate housing services to low-income citizens to ensure stability and provide a decent living.”

The project is part of VIVA Bahrain’s corporate social responsibility programme. Ulaiyan Al Wetaid, the company’s chief executive officer, added: “We would like to congratulate the citizens who have benefited from this housing initiative and we are immensely proud of our successful partnership with the Ministry of Housing.”
