Manama joins more than 250 cities worldwide by hosting Bahrain’s first ‘Israel Apartheid Week’ (IAW), beginning today and running until Saturday April 4. IAW events take place across the globe annually, with the aim of raising awareness about Israel’s policies towards Palestinians. The diverse programme kicks off tonight at 7.30pm in Al Oruba Club, Juffair, with a talk entitled: ‘Al Nakba and a Return to Jaffa’. The event promises to bring a human perspective to the Palestine issue.
Prominent Bahraini of Palestinian origin Adnan Sharabi will speak alongside his daughter Yasmin about the experience of leaving Palestine, and the next generation’s return to a lost homeland.

A ‘Berber Women of Morocco’ exhibition is being held at the Bahrain National Museum, Manama, until April 15 as part of the 2015 Year of Heritage festivities, from 8am-8pm.

Saudi artist Faisal Samra is hosting an exhibition titled Global Warming at Bin Matar House, Muharraq, until April 26. The venue is open Saturday to Thursday, from 9am-1pm and 4pm-7pm.

The Dilmun Club, Saar, hosts a children’s disco every Wednesday from 5pm-6.30pm. It costs BD2 per child, inclusive of a buffet and soft drink. Both members and non-members are welcome, with normal guest fees applied.

Tomorrow (March 26)

BMMI Shops are celebrating Spring with a poolside party and grape fair at the Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain. Global grape varieties will be showcased from 7pm-10pm.

American rapper Soulja Boy will perform live at Ibrida Lounge, Ramee Grand Hotel & Spa, Seef, from 9pm. Famous for his 2008 smash hit Crank That (Soulja Boy), tickets are available from BD15 via pre-sale, and will be BD25 on the door.

Enma Mall, Riffa, will be setting up a Formula One ticket sale stand on the ground floor, between Le Chocolat and Mado Café, until Saturday. There will also be a raffle draw and two winners will win tickets to try out the BIC’s Land Rover Experience off-road course.

The Royal Country Club’s Family Movie Night takes place in the gardens from 6pm. All are welcome to attend and entry is free.

The Ramee Grand Hotel & Spa, Seef, hosts a Seafood Night every Thursday at its Lemon Tree restaurant. On offer are lobsters, shrimps, octopus and more. The cost is BD14++ for adults. The restaurant is also hosting special lunch buffet specials at BD9 net, inclusive of soft drinks, from Sunday to Thursday from 12.30pm-3.30pm.

Friday (March 27)
Sahaja Yoga Bahrain is conducting a free meditation and stress management programme from 6.30pm in THMC Hall, Manama (inside Krishna Temple).

Regular weekly classes are free and staged every Friday morning from 10am at Karnataka Social Club, Manama, and every Tuesday evening from 7.30pm at Telugu Kala Samithi, Adliya.

Royal Golf Club’s Links Friday Carvery Brunch features a range of starters, live cooking stations, traditional carved meats, desserts and more.

There’s also a special section for children. The brunch, from noon to 4pm, costs BD18 net for adults, including unlimited selected soft drinks, and BD27 net for adults, with unlimited selected house beverages. It’s BD9.500 net for under-12s and children aged four and under eat for free.

To mark International Women’s Day a month of celebrations are being held at Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa with a Woman’s Night Out promotion.
