Too Hot To Trot

Beach fun for everyone took place on Friday as Muharraq Studs Bahrain hosted a hugely entertaining event, organised by Fawzi Al Arrayed of the Bahrain Horseman Committee (BHC).

A unique competition was staged for cowboys at Karbabad Beach in the Seef Area. 

The main competition included barrel racing, pole bending and picking up objects whilst riding.

These challenges tested the skills and proficiency of both horse and rider. There were three main stars in this competition. In first place came Fadhel Almahasnyah and close on his hooves and heels was Saad Mubarak, with S Ahmed Albeladi in third spot.

Smaller prizes and gifts were awarded to the top 10. However, this trio beat off stiff competition in the event which attracted an impressive 60 riders.
 
The cowboys of Bahrain are infamous for their close attention to everything, taking extreme pride in ensuring all are correctly presented and attired on two legs or four.

The aim of the BHC is to become an official cowboy riders club in Bahrain and members hope to secure their own piece of land to train and host international competitions and events.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, the Bahrain Royal Equestrian & Endurance Federation (BREEF) opened its doors once again to another of its popular training days allowing horses and riders to experience the BDF Equestrian Ground, and practice over the fences in the competition arena. 

Mohammed Abdulla Dadulla, assisted by volunteers, designed and built the course 24 hours earlier. This invaluable opportunity was very much appreciated by all.

FORTHCOMING EVENTS

This coming weekend promises to be an entertaining one, with an exciting ‘Cross Country Event’ to be held on Friday starting at 4pm behind Abbas Al Ghuraifi Stables in Saar.

The course has already been partially set up and if previous events can be anything to go by this will be an afternoon not to be missed. It is an exceptional way for both horse and rider to have some serious fun.

Also, this coming weekend is the penultimate BREEF Show Jumping Competition to be held at BDF Equestrian Showground at Al Riffa. The event will take on its regular format of two junior classes, which will start at 9am. Following a break, the three adult classes are scheduled to start at 3pm.

This is the penultimate event, with the final being held over two days on April 17-18, with both Show Jumping and Dressage Classes being planned. This column will keep you posted on that one.
