Gulf Weekly Bowen is off to a hot start

THE Volvo World Golf Challenge got off to a strong start in Bahrain with a full field of players competing at the Royal Golf Club in the 1st qualifier of the series on Saturday.

Jamie Bowen won with a score of 39 points followed by Jason Leighton in the runners-up spot with 38. David Wales took third spot with 33 points.
 
A prize-giving ceremony was held in the Members’ Lounge where Trevor Fletcher, sales manager – Motorcity Passenger Car Division, handed over the trophies.

Kanoo Vehicle Leasing and AXA Insurance have continued their association with the event by offering competitors the chance to win a Volvo V40 in a hole-in-one challenge. The prize went unclaimed in the opening qualifier.

The 2015 Bahrain Volvo World Golf Challenge consists of three qualification rounds. The players that qualify will compete in a final round in November. The winners of the Bahrain final will receive a complementary invitation to fly off to the World Final in 2016 at a date and venue to be announced.

The remaining Bahrain Volvo World Golf Challenge calendar:
* Saturday, September 5 - 2nd Qualifier
* Saturday, October 10 - 3rd Qualifier
* Saturday, November 14 -  Bahrain Final
