Child’s play

The great thing about watching children learn golf is their ability to imitate the teacher’s swing and the complete lack of fear about the outcome of the shot.

Over the last 20 years I have taught kids around the world and the one thing that is guaranteed after a missed shot is a laugh and a smile. We can learn a lot from this regarding our own practice.

Next time you’re at the range, imagine your favourite player’s swing in your mind and copy the movement, focusing on the rhythm (don’t worry that your actual swing will probably be completely different!).

Don’t panic if you miss a stroke – stay positive and stick to your routine for a more enjoyable practice experience and consistent results.
