On the occasion of international breast cancer awareness month, Gulf International Bank (GIB) will be lighting its building pink for the entire month of October.

Through this initiative, GIB would like to raise awareness of the importance of the early detection of breast cancer.

GIB is proud to support the Think Pink Bahrain national campaign by generating awareness and timely treatment that can directly contribute to saving lives.

We have changed our permanent BWC meetings’ venue to Umami Restaurant in Adliya starting at 7.30pm. Others events at the same venue and time are the Bahrain Writers’ Poetry Circle Meeting on November 11 and the Bahrain Writers’ Creative Workshop on November 16.

The Bahrain Rugby Football Club Junior Netball Players are holding a charity netball tournament in aid of Think Pink on Friday at 10am to noon at the club in Janibiya.

It is open to year groups 3 &4, 5 & 6, plus 7, 8 & 9 and players and supporters are urged to wear something pink.

There are some fantastic raffle prizes to be won too and all proceeds with go to Think Pink.

A big thank you also goes to everyone who has donated towards the event including Mano’s, Piece of Cake, The Bookcase, Al Osra, Alia Flowers, Novel Beauty Salon and, of course, the rugby club.

Thank you so much for a fantastic piece of coverage on ‘Create Beautiful Things’ in last week’s issue, we really appreciated it!

‘Create Beautiful Things’ was an exhibition of innovative objects d’art with items ranging from home décor to fashion accessories and stationery items by Bahrain’s leading artists.

Artists involved in the project include Salah Bushehri, Ella Prakash, Vrushali, Taiba Faraj Ebrahim, Ramah Al-Hussieni, Noof Alrefaei and Nawaf Al Malood, Seema Baqi, Feryal Behboodi, Giuse Maggi and Leyla Jassim, along with the staff from Verandah Catering, who came together, alongside GulfWeekly reporter Kristian Harrision, to create innovative pieces of ‘upcycled’ art.

Through this art initiative, Coca-Cola will raise funds to help make dreams come true for children affected by terminal illnesses, with all sale proceeds, totallying BD2,800, donated to the Dreams Society.
