Nissan has unveiled its 2016 Maxima in the Middle East, and the marque is confident that the
completely redesigned model will see sales continue to grow in the large sedan segment.
The revamped exterior includes a V-Motion front end, boomerang lights, kick-up C-pillars and what
the designers have dubbed a ‘floating roof’ appearance. The design was inspired by the Blue Angels jet
fighters housed at the US Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida.
At the rear, large dual exhaust chrome tailpipe finishers aim to add a futuristic look, while 18-
inch machined aluminium-alloy wheels ooze luxury.
Nissan Middle East managing director, Samir Cherfan, claimed: “The dramatically-styled Nissan
Maxima 2016, created by driving enthusiasts for driving enthusiasts, looks like nothing else on the
road today and drives like nothing in the segment.
“It not only resets Nissan Maxima’s iconic ‘4-Door Sports Car’ positioning, it sets a new standard
for style, performance and technology in the large sedan segment. It raises the bar incredibly high in
class-leading design, fuel efficiency, performance and technology.”
Under the bonnet, the Maxima boasts a 3.5-litre V6 capable of 300BHP and has 15 per cent better
fuel economy compared to the previous model.
Inside the car, a radical overhaul has seen the introduction of genuine stitching on the instrument
panel, doors and console, ambient lighting, premium leather seating surfaces with diamond-quilted
inserts, unique faceted finishers and a sporty D-shaped, flat-bottom steering wheel.
Infotainment features are accessed via the eight-inch colour touch screen, which includes full
smartphone integration, USB, Bluetooth, AM/FM radio and navigation.
The marque’s exemplary safety record is set to continue with a suite of new features, including
Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Cruise Control, Forward Emergency Braking, Rear
Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Warning.
A Driver Attention Alert system is also incorporated, which monitors steering input patterns to
establish a baseline and helps alert the driver when drowsy or inattentive driving is detected.
The Nissan Maxima 2016 will be available from the Y K Almoayyed & Sons Nissan showroom in Sitra
from the end of October. Price details are yet to be finalised but industry sources suggest that the
starting price will be around BD12,500.
