The Lost Paradise of Dilmun Waterpark Bahrain aims to delight its guests and neighbouring university students with freshly-baked food, sweet treats and piping hot drinks at its newly-launched eatery.
Mid Summer Café, developed by Al Areen Palace & Spa, is situated close to the popular water park’s entrance, giving people living in Sakhir and surrounding villages and developments the opportunity to sample the savoury and sweet goodies even after the tourist attraction’s opening hours.
According to Pierre Vasseur, general manager of Al Areen and Lost Paradise, the concept of the cosy café has already been well received by visitors during its soft launch last week and has become an instant attraction with students studying at the University of Bahrain.
He said: “One of the good things about this café is that you don’t have to enter the park to eat here. We do have access from within but even when the park closes, people can still enjoy the café.
“The coffee shop, which was inspired by William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, offers all kinds of cold and hot drinks, pastries, sandwiches, salads and cakes. It’s meant to be affordable and it’s great for the university students because we are five minutes away from them.
“When it’s lunch time, they would usually eat off of campus and mostly visit fast food chains. Now they can drive two minutes more, come here, sit in a good atmosphere, use the free internet and enjoy affordable, fresh food.”
The venue, which can seat 80 diners comfortably, is decorated with a beautiful combination of colours along with quotes from Shakespeare plays to fit in with the theme. As the weather improves, seating will also be available on the outside terrace.
The park’s international kitchen team, led by executive chef, food and beverage and culinary manager Asif Khan, ensures the shelves are stocked with freshly-baked treats on a daily basis.
This is not the first time that Al Areen has associated the café concept with students, as its first outlet was launched in 2014 at the British School of Bahrain and continues to satisfy cravings with its range of healthy sandwich wraps, alongside pastries and cake treats, drinks and more.
Mr Vasseur said: “If you visit BSB, where we are operating all the catering, you will find exactly the same concept and branding, such as the warm coloured waves. We would like to develop this concept at more schools and universities.”
