More than 200 applications have been received and are currently being evaluated in the third edition of Tamkeen’s Mashroo3i Youth Business Awards competition.

Following a presentation by the applicants, 60 teams will proceed to compete in the final rounds.

The contest targets Bahrainis between the ages of 15 and 26 and aims to raise awareness about the importance of entrepreneurship.

Throughout the competition, 12 prominent entrepreneurs will be guiding the teams in formulating their business plans and projects.

Selected teams will formulate and prepare business plans for innovative products and services throughout a number of phases, which will culminate with a public exhibition displaying the best ideas.

This year applicants will undergo a training phase which aims to provide them with insight on the basic skills of business planning. Submitted business plans by participating teams will be evaluated by a judging panel.

Mashroo3i judges will select three winners in eight different categories, who will be given networking opportunities with potential investors, incubation opportunities for up to one year as well as internship opportunities.

Tamkeen’s chief operating officer Amal Al Kooheji wished the wannabe entrepreneurs the ‘best of luck’ and added: “Popular programmes such as Mashroo3i act as a means for young Bahrainis to unleash and transform their ideas into tangible realities and thus contributing to the development and growth of the kingdom’s economy.”
