Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea Spa will be launching the annual culinary and cultural extravaganza ‘The Amazing Tastes of Thailand Festival 2016’ next month.
The event, in partnership with the Royal Thai Embassy, Gulf Air and ITL Travel, will run from September 5-11.
Details of the festival were unveiled to the media at the hotel last week attended by Thai ambassador to Bahrain Chayapan Bamrungphong and the resort’s general manager Samy Boukhaled.
“This is a great opportunity for Bahrain residents and visitors to enjoy Thai cuisine, as well as cultural performances and discover Thailand as a top tourism destination,” said the ambassador.
The launch ceremony on September 5 at Sofitel’s main ballroom will feature a festival of lights and showcase special dishes from 12 participating Thai restaurants.
Guests will be entertained by Sbun-nga, a well-known performance troupe from Chiangmai.
After the opening event daily authentic Thai tastes and entertainment will be on offer at the resort’s Saraya restaurant until September 11, with other activities at participating venues.
Ahmed Janahi, Gulf Air’s chief commercial officer, outlined the national airline’s links between Bahrain and Thailand with direct daily flights to Bangkok.
“We invite residents in Bahrain to experience the culinary offering of the Thai Week Festival next month and get a chance to win a Gulf Air ticket to Bangkok to experience our onboard product and services and eventually experience Thailand as a destination,” he added.
