Gulf Weekly Inaugural contest proves a thriller

In an exciting battle to the finish, Bahraini Fahad Al Hakam emerged victorious in the inaugural Oman Air Open at the Royal Golf Club.

The count back system was needed to separate him from runner-up Peter Donkin after they both achieved scores of 38 points.

There was a three-way tie for third place too with Saud Al Sharif winning on count back with 36 points.

Yeon Gul Kim and Sam Jong Kim took fourth and fifth places respectively with the same score.

Around 60 golfers competed in the individual stableford tournament which boasted a top prize of an Oman Air business class ticket to the winner’s destination of choice and an economy ticket for the runner-up.

“We were very pleased with the turn-out for this maiden event and look forward to working with Oman Air again in the near future,” said Adam Dutson, the Royal Golf Club’s tournament coordinator.
