Free-style footballer Tom Vegter is back on the island to entertain children with his fancy footwork and, this time, he has brought along a friend to join in the fun.
The 23-year-old national street soccer ambassador from the Netherlands, better known as TomV, is set to showcase a series of tricks with his good friend and champion juggler Christiaan Van Derweide, 21, on Friday at Tekkers Academy-Bahrain HQ, located at the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) sporting facility.
They also plan to visit several schools on the island.
TomV had captivated youngsters last year during a two-day academy workshop. He also stunned shoppers at City Centre Bahrain back in 2009 and visitors at the Bahrain International Circuit.
Tekkers founder and Bahrain international Rahman said: “TomV was such a great hit last time that our players and parents have been asking for him to return!
“TomV and Christiaan will be demonstrating their fantastic freestyle skills, as well as teaching youngsters the tricks of the trade at the camp.”
It will include new combined tricks such as the celebrated ‘Duo Around the World’, a popular ball trick made ‘twice as hard’.
TomV said: “As a pair, we can do so much more. We still do individual skills but we can now do combinations and synchronised tricks which add a whole new dimension. It all comes down to teamwork!”
The first session will be held from 9am to 11am for Under 8 and Under 10. A second session will be staged from 2pm to 4pm for Under 12 and older. The camp is priced at BD12 and each player will receive a T-shirt. There will also be prizes to be won.
