The E K Kanoo Drag and Drift Night returnedto action this week at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir andenthusiasts were invited to take their very own cars or motorbikes and pushthem to their limit while in a safe and controlled environment.

Sponsored by Ebrahim K Kanoo and powered byMotor City, the first double-header of the new season brought two of the mostpopular forms of motorsport together at ‘the home of motorsport in the MiddleEast’ on Monday night.

BIC’s world-class quarter-mile drag strip, which is a member of the prestigious National Hot Rod Association (NHRA)Worldwide Network, played host to the drag racing and a special course alongBIC’s car park staged all the drifting action.

The popular E.K. Kanoo Drag & DriftNights attracts hundreds of enthusiasts and more events are planned in thecoming months.

“This is an opportunity for drag and driftenthusiasts to pump-up their adrenalin levels and challenge their friends on aworld class track, and within and ideal environment for such activities,” saidAyman Shehadeh, senior manager of Toyota and Lexus Marketing at E.K. Kanoo.

“Toyota has always placed great emphasis onsafety and reliability. Attendees get the chance to inspect the latest models, which will be on display, and learn about the unique safety and durabilityfeatures that make them ideal for events like these.”

As with previous Drag & Drift Nights, safety standards of the highest level are followed at all times during theevening’s events for both drivers and spectators alike.

It is hoped that these events willencourage speed-lovers to take advantage of the BIC facilities rather than taketo the highways for illegal late-night racing, which in recent months hasresulted in well-reported heartache and tragedy for drivers and spectatorsalike.

The activities are affordable too. Both ofMonday’s activities could be enjoyed for a single fee of BD10. Participation injust the drag racing or just the drifting costs BD7.

Registration for all coming events can bedone on site from 5pm, and the action takes place from 6pm to 11pm.

Those who would like to experience the dragor drift as a passenger can get into a friend’s car for an additional BD4 foreach event. Spectators can purchase tickets for BD2 apiece.

Also as part of the drag racing programme,BIC also offers the popular Dragster Xperience. This is one of the circuit’smost unique and ultimate activities, as it gives participants a taste of purespeed as they are taken from zero to 100kph in just one second while seated ina mighty machine. The Dragster Xperience costs BD40 per person.
