The thrills were off the track as much as on it during the WEC 6 Hours of Bahrain, as a suite of entertainment acts lit up the vending area and whipped fans into a frenzy.

Moroccan singer-songwriter Hatim Ammor had his female fans giggling and bopping along to his crooning on Thursday, before American pop star Dev performed an energetic and colourful set on Friday which proved extremely popular with the younger crowd.

She belted out hits including Bass Down Low, Booty Bounce and In the Dark, song in which she collaborated with famous artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Far East Moevement and Fabolous. On race day, fans were able to take a break from the action and enjoy a particularly explosive stunt show, featuring moto riders jumping over each other, driving up ramps and powering through fiery obstacles.

Best of all was the Ministry of Science Show, which showcased different types of energy using demonstrations and historical references as the narrative. Combining the world of education with live experiments and the history of engineering, the interactive show was a mixture of classroom and theatre.

The experiments with nitrogen balloons and fire, featuring unexpected explosions, were particularly thrilling! While children were busy in the adventure area and sliding down huge bouncy castles, international star Khaled closed the festival with a highly-attended concert on Saturday night.

This was particularly popular with the Arab crowd, who came out in droves to sing and dance the night away to numerous songs such as Didi, Aicha and C’est La Vie.

GulfWeekly marketing manager Jalal Muradi was even spotted out of his natural habitat, busting moves with his wife and children, wide-eyed excitement etched on his face at every chorus. Perhaps we will have to start playing Khaled’s songs in the office to turn his signature frown upside-down!
