Golf Tip: Getting better bunker shots

When faced with a greenside bunker shot, many golfers switch over to a state of fear.

The most common problem being that they decelerate or try to scoop the ball out of the bunker instead of splashing the sand behind the ball. Bunker shots are different to the normal golf shot in the sense that you’re not trying to hit the ball itself, but rather the sand two inches behind the ball.

In order to improve your bunker shots, try making a few swings without a golf ball where the main aim is to splash the sand out of the bunker.

This will make sure that you maintain acceleration throughout the whole shot and there will be enough momentum to get the ball out of the bunker consistently.
