Fashion followers were out in full force at the Bahrain International Circuit, turning heads in their racy frocks and stylish shorts while roaming the paddock and Formula One Village.
While drivers were captivating motorsport fanatics on the track, ladies from across the globe were heating up the circuit over the weekend with their off-the-shoulder outfits, flouncy maxi dresses and brightly-hued clothing.
True F1 fans sported their favourite team race-gear and colours from head-to-toe in smart polos, fitted tees and hats while others stuck to the latest trends and runway pieces. As predicted, winners Ferrari was the go-to choice with many women decked out in full-red.
It was wonderful to see that some women took GulfWeekly’s fashion tips to heart such as Disney TV producer Brigitte Ponissi, pictured left, who looked cool and comfortable in her airy white-sleeved top and olive green slacks paired with Birkenstock sandals.
The 33-year-old from the UK had joined her Italian husband Will, who works in the media and public relations department for Sahara Force India, at the paddock. This was her second F1 carnival, having attended last year’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Although it was her first grand prix fashion walk in Bahrain she definitely made the cut.
Brigitte said: “I wanted to dress modestly to be respectful of the culture but also with light clothing since it was so warm on Friday. In the UK, or Norway where I am from, it never gets that warm. I bought my top from Mango at City Centre Bahrain.
“Also, it’s important to hit the sweet spot between dressing nicely and dressing comfortably! There was a lot of walking involved going back and forth from the paddock to the track. I spoke to some girls who said they wanted to chop off their feet since they were wearing four-inch heels!”
Ladies … I told you so.
Some women rocked colourfully detailed bohemian-style gladiator sandals and others like Shereen Saber, top right, wore trainers for the long trek.
Shereen also made her black ensemble pop with a vibrant, long-strapped bag with sassy cat-eye sunglasses. One TV presenter even paired a strappy tangerine summer dress with white sneakers.
Although I felt sorry for the girls in heels, I couldn’t help but admire their V-neck patterned dresses, sleek cigarette trousers and fitted skirts. They looked cute as well as chic.
However, the fashionsta that truly stood out in the crowd was one of the females, pictured right, on the Williams Martini Racing pit crew. Now how come her shorts were shorter than those donned by the men? She may be wearing a similar kit but it definitely looked better on her than the fellas in the team. Go girl!
