Baloo is taking a well-deserved summer break having helped to sell – wait for it – 984 books!

He can’t wait to meet the purchaser of the 1,000th book who will win a mystery prize.

Head to The Bookcase on Budaiya Highway or contact @sarahclarke888 to snap up your copy for BD3 – with all proceeds going to the RIA Institute Bahrain which caters to the needs of mainstream learners as well as students with special educational needs.

The book makes a great gift for anyone travelling home for the summer as the story is based in Bahrain.

Sarah Clarke, by email.

l Editor’s note: BALOO, an adorable chocolate brown rescue dog, who regularly brings joy and laughter to autistic children and those with communication challenges at RIA, is the star of the short story, as reported in GulfWeekly, written by Sarah, with illustrations by artist Sunanda Docherty.

Thank you GulfWeekly for a truly outstanding show review of our Cultural Hall production NEW YORK, NEW YORK - The City That Never Sleeps!

Well done to the entire team at BALLARE ... we can’t wait for next year’s show.

Regards,

Ballare Studio - School of Performing Arts, Saar.

I couldn’t help but chuckle over the classroom fidget-spinners story in last week’s issue of GulfWeekly.

I thought your readers might like this image a friend of mine posted on his social media account, simply captioned: Grounded - punishment 2017-style.

I’m sure it works too!

Regards,

Parent, Saar.

Dear boss, I’m going to be late getting to work (again). My day started with a leisurely drive to Manchester Airport at 4.30am. Eighteen hours later, after one internal flight, numerous hours of sweaty queuing, four train journeys and a stroll in the rain, I’m back where I started. Except without my suitcase as that’s down some mystery Heathrow rabbit hole by now. Cheers British Airways. Will return to Bahrain as soon as I can and will send my promised reports by email if I can find a friend with a laptop lead as mine is packed away securely in the lost luggage.

Kristian Harrison, reporter, still stuck in the UK.

We’ve just read Christine Hasan’s review of Come Fly With Me – Victoria Dance – Cultural Hall in last week’s issue with lumps in our throats. Thank you so much, reading it has made all the late nights, parental moans and last-minute hitches worth every moment.

It was honest and truthful and made us feel so proud.

We’ve just booked May 4 next year, one night only this time, so watch out for the invitation!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much.

Vicky and all of us here at Victoria Dance.
