Bahraini Khalifa Daij and playing partner, Jim Lanceley, drove to glory at the Royal Golf Club’s fifteenth annual National Day Golf tournament which was sponsored by Audi Centre Bahrain and Audi Sport for the third consecutive year.
The event featured 50 expat golfers paired up with 50 Bahraini golfers and was played in a two player better ball Stableford format.
Daij and Lanceley achieved a fantastic first day score of 43 Stableford points, followed by 38 Stableford points on day two, giving them an overall aggregate score of 81. Yaseen Le Falher and Salah Juma clinched the runners up spot in the prestigious tournament with scores of 37 and 41, giving a total of 78, while Rob Lane and playing partner Nasser Al Fedhala took third place with scores of 40 and 37 for a total of 77.
Geetan Jessen, Audi Centre Bahrain’s dealer principal, said: “The camaraderie was brilliant, the golf, competitive but very friendly, and everyone had a great time during and after the event.”
A range of Audi vehicles were showcased around the golf course for the duration of the two day event which concluded with a prize giving ceremony and luncheon in the Club’s Majlis facility. A chance to win an Audi A3 as a hole-in-one prize on the 16th hole went unclaimed.
Steven Hill, the GM of Behbehani Brothers W.L.L. Motors Division, added: “We received tremendous feedback from the players over the last two days. It has been an honour and pleasure to support this one-of-a-kind event and I am proud that we will be looking to extend our sponsorship into 2018.”
The 36-hole tournament, played over two days on the Club’s Montgomery championship golf course, was established 15-years-ago to celebrate Bahrain’s National Day activities by promoting friendship and unity between Bahraini’s and expatriate residents of the kingdom.
Steven Havrilla, the RGC’s general manger said: “Once again we’re extremely pleased with the continued success of this year’s tournament. Congratulations to Khalifa and James on their win and a big thank you to Audi Centre Bahrain represented by Behbehani Brothers for their continued support.”
