The Ismail Khonji Associates Stableford competition, which was held on Friday at Awali Golf Club and was sponsored for a second year by IKA, was clinched by Jin Keun Kim with 42 Stableford points.
At the prize presentation, master-of-ceremonies vice-captain Serwin Rampersad admitted that something appeared to have gone wrong as Jin Keun had only been allocated his initial handicap at the previous weekend’s competition.
In golf, most players tend to be as nervous as a mouse looking at cheese in a mousetrap as they dip their toes in the deep waters of competition play, with their score reflecting their stage fright, rather than their score reflecting an attitude of bring it on.
Ismail Khonji presented the prizes and the crystal ware was selected by the tournament director Susan Scott. Jassim Al Ghatam was in runner-up place (39), 3rd Adel Al Gaoud (39), 4th Essa Ahmed Abdulla (39), 5th Jasper Meinema (39), 6th Madeleine Doporto (38), with Diab Sagar Al Noaimi, Rashid Ahmed Abdulla, Chris Gregory and Yong Back Kim losing on countback.
