Majid Al Futtaim has officially unveiled its rebranded Carrefour hypermarket at Bahrain Mall and hoards of shoppers flocked to the store to pick up opening bargains and special offers.
The opening follows the company’s recent acquisition of Retail Arabia and is part of its rebranding process. The number of Carrefour stores in Bahrain has increased to 11. The hypermarket has been described as its ‘second flagship’ in the kingdom with the original in City Centre Bahrain.
Jerome Akel, country head for Carrefour Bahrain, said: “We have finalised the rebranding process of all six former Geant stores to Carrefour. We look forward to welcoming our loyal customers and offering them an exceptional shopping experience reflecting our brand’s commitment to create great moments for everyone, every day.”
This opening is in line with Carrefour’s regional expansion strategy. The store features its ‘bespoke in-store food concepts’ such as the Healthy Kitchen, live cooking stations for fresh BBQ meals and an Arabic bread and sweets corner. In addition, the hypermarket offers more than 90,000 food and non-food products and a wide range of household goods.
Photographed at the ribbon-cutting were Jerome, Younis Al Mulla, SVP - Development & Government Affairs, business development, Carrefour, Dr Herve Majidier, international COO, Officer, Carrefour and Yasser Adullah Alnaqbi, charge d’affaires UAE embassy in Bahrain.
