Fitness fanatics and professional athletes are busy burning calories and breezing through races and championships in Tru Active’s latest fire and ice themed line.

The sporty sisters, Dana and Hala Zubari, who created a series of comfortable, chic and colourful collections of leggings and bras with an Arabic twist, have added The Arabian Frost to its brand portfolio featuring different cuts, styles and shades.

Hala, 26, said: “The collection was inspired by ‘nature in transition’. Arabian Frost is a foggy morning out in the desert - giving the visual of a frosty morning - or even a lavender sky during a sunrise on the sea. I used natural textures to create the print designs used in this collection. It’s a reminder to stay grounded and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us every day.”

Their collection ranges from leggings, capris, swimwear, sports bras, tank tops, T-shirts, caps, socks, crop tops and jackets and the sisters like to add a couple of new items to their collection each year.

The Bahrain-based brand is a combination of Dana’s athleticism and competitive background, Hala’s fashion expertise and their father Khalid’s artistic Arabic calligraphy.

Their outfits are growing in popularity both home and abroad.

“As this is our third year in production, this is the most diverse range we’ve launch yet,” added Hala. “We wanted to create a brand that incorporates active wear with traditional Arabic motifs.

“It’s a combination of elements from our premium and durable fabrics to the Arabic calligraphy stories of each piece. Our active wear is like wearing a work of art; you’ll never see a similar style from another brand.

“We don’t follow the typical fashion forecasts, making sure that our customers always standout from the crowd in a beautiful-designed garment.

“Our desire to create pieces that were unique and high quality drove us to be very selective of what fabrics to use and what factories to work with. We design for style and the comfort of the woman who wear our garments for their active lifestyle.

“All of our products are designed and developed in-house in Bahrain and our manufacturing is outsourced. Our fabrics are exclusive per garment and tailored to each factory’s specification.”

Dana, 35, has a three-year-old daughter Layla, and can often be seen sporting her fierce frosty leggings and crops at different triathlons and Ironman events in Bahrain and around the world.

Dana said: “I’ve always believed in my sister’s creativity and have always encouraged her to design. She’s been designing my race gear long before Tru Active was set up. I even got her to design custom sport bras for my fellow athlete friends.

“I took a leap of faith, funding the start-up because I really believed in my sister and that Tru Active could be something great.

“Every day I’m thankful that I took that leap and that I can support my sister’s vision and be part of such a beautiful brand. The experience has brought my sister and me so much closer together that I can’t imagine what life would be like without it.

“We both take part in sports. I like more endurance sports such as triathlons and running, whereas Hala is more into yoga, water sports and weight lifting.

“I’ve always been an athlete my whole life. I love encouraging my friends and family to take part in activities, it’s a great way to stay healthy and strong especially as you get older. I have a mantra I always like to repeat” ‘do one thing today that you’ll be grateful for tomorrow’.”

The options include special ‘Bahrain Love’ leggings with maps of the kingdom in case you get lost on a run!
