Al Areen Palace & Spa has staged a grand launch of its newly-improved and rebranded health club, Fitness For Life, with celebrity guests, sporting challenges and family fun, writes Stan Szecowka.
The popular hospitality destination boasts a 2,000sq/ft gymnasium with state-of-the-art fitness equipment as well as a dedicated gymnasium and training room for women.
Tennis and squash courts, fitness studio, an indoor lap and outdoor free-form pool are just some of the facilities that can be found at Fitness For Life and every day the health club will be organising a wide range of professionally-run fitness, wellness and recreation activities.
The mixed-use gymnasium has been extended and the new ladies gym, with its own changing rooms, has been opened on the second floor. They both feature free weights, weight training machines, plyo-box, battle rope and TechnoGym cardio equipment with integrated TVs.
The opening ceremony was performed by Bahrain’s world champion bodybuilder Sami Al Haddad, who gave training tips and helped judge a series of fitness challenges for members and guests.
Other special speakers at last Wednesday’s event included Hamad Al Saad, founder of The Nourisher and holistic health and food psychology coach, Fajar Al Bin Ali, who picked up a gold medal at the World Taekwondo Federation President Cup Championship in Morocco and artist Fares Ahmadi who gave tips about how to conquer the illusory difficulties that people sometimes face with exercise.
A number of instructor-led daily group classes are now being operated, including indoor cycling, circuit. Zumba, outside runs, abs yoga fitness, combat steps, core yoga ball and Tabata, a high-intensity interval training workout. And shortly TRX Force, Kangoo Jump and paddle board workouts will be added to the schedule.
