Bunyamin Aydin founder and creative director of luxury Turkish street-wear label Les Benjamins, has relived his hoop dreams by creating a new fresh and sporty basketball-inspired summer collection.

The designer, known for collections that translate stories, cultures, traditions and rituals of the East into sophisticated street wear, bounces along with a riveting new chapter.

He said: “Growing up as a kid, I played in two basketball teams and I always wanted to do a collection inspired by the sport. I’m known for portraying a melting pot of culture and, immediately, I was hooked up to the idea of B League, which is the Japanese basketball league.”

The collection’s theme revolves around deconstructed hybrids of sportswear and tailoring archetypes set in Japan. The designs garments narrate the entire cycle of a basketball game from the player’s mental preparation and endurance training to the final game in the court.

In this context, meditation, strength and performance are the collection’s spiritual and functional pillars. The key pieces are built with an elevated design sensibility, to last both in the court and on the streets.

Bunyamin sticks to clean tonal colour-ways with bone white and grey hues that are paired with flashy pops of neon citrus, cobalt blue and gym red. The fabrics feature a blend of natural fibres and rip stop tech threads to craft kimono-sleeved, or wide-shoulder jackets, and loose-fit jumpers.

The latest collection also boasts crop-tops, wide-leg track trousers and cycling and camo-shorts that include cool camouflage and pinstripe patterns adorned with handcrafted knot details and jersey components.

Bunyamin designs have been worn by several stars including singer and fashion icon Rita Ora, who recently entertained fans in Bahrain, actor Jaiden Smith, model Cara Delevigne, French music video director Woodkid and model and actress, Jourdan Dunn.

The collection can be found in high-end luxury boutiques in Bahrain and Dubai as well as online.
