Minimalists may love IKEA’s storage containers and shelving units for helping them declutter their homes … but it’s the maximalists that are rejoicing as the Swedish store celebrates them with a collection that will make sure every item shines bright and is given the attention it deserves.

This was made possible with the help of seven designers that collaborated to create SAMMANHANG, which means ‘context’ in Swedish. The collection features open and closed units used to embrace and showcase people’s belongings, ranging from the smallest of display boxes and trays to larger pieces of furniture.

“We identify SAMMANHANG as a collection of versatile containers, mainly for the purpose of displaying and organising, or to be collected and displayed themselves,” explained Jalila Ali, IKEA Bahrain’s marketing specialist. “We want to connect with the emotional aspects of storing, displaying and sharing memories.

“It’s all about the little things we love to collect in order to express ourselves. This opens up for people who want to exhibit their belongings and personality.

“There’s a tiny collector within all of us, so whether you are a maximalist or minimalist, the collection helps in make it all look better!”

Whether you want to show off your collection of art pieces, display your hat collection or keep your seashells or accessories all in one place, IKEA’s storage products will work for all areas of your home.

1. Stand tall:

Line up your paints or perfumes on the 50cmx16cm SAMMANHANG tray stand. It also comes with trays and is priced BD11.100.

2. Clear cut:

Stow away your sparkly gems and other shiny trinkets in SAMMANHANG’s glass dome that comes with a base.  A set of two is valued at BD4.900.

3. Box it:

The SAMMANHANG boxes can keep thinking looking tidy. Never misplace a thing with this set of three for BD7.500.

4. Show off:

Designer Aaron Probyn created the SAMMANHANG coffee table for BD39.500 to support his wife’s plant buying habit.

He said: “My wife inspired me - she loves collecting things. She’s constantly bringing home plants, but we have nowhere to put them. The glass table was created to hold small cacti, but it can equally display any object of your choice.”

5. Get shelf-ish:

Put everything on a pedestal with the SAMMANHANG display shelf. A set of two is priced at BD5.900.
