Al Mabarrah Al Khalifia Foundation (MKF) has recently launched the second edition of its youth enrichment programme, Ithraa, titled ‘giving is a way of life’.

This edition aims to enhance students’ personal skills, tying them with the concept of giving through training workshops and volunteerism.

The programme is held every Saturday until April 20 from 9am to 4pm, attracting more than 90 participants.

The Ithraa Youth Enrichment Programme encompasses three main phases to teach participants social and life skills by setting them on a path of self-development and improvement.

The first phase focuses on self-discovery and allows participants to learn essential personal abilities such as leadership and presentation skills. Additionally, participants will be trained in planning and problem-solving, enabling them to use mental analysis to overcome life’s challenges.

The second phase involves methods for self-realisation and highlights the importance of setting personal goals and striving to achieve them, helping individuals to grow on intellectual and practical levels. This stage tests the participants’ determination to reach their goals.

The final phase mentors students to appreciate giving as a value and understand its positive impact on individuals and society. In this phase, participants get hands-on experience by becoming volunteers themselves. This helps them learn more about sustainability goals and giving back to the community.

The programme developed by MKF aims to empower and enable Bahraini youth to become proactive and community-minded citizens. It is a comprehensive programme implemented by academic specialists in leadership and human development, supported by a cadre of Bahraini youth to supervise students.

I would also like to thank the sponsors of the programme, namely Tamkeen, Royal Academy of Police, the Abdulrahim Al Kooheji Foundation and the Ministry of Youth & Sports.

All four Rotary clubs in Bahrain jointly organised a social evening to mark the 114th anniversary of Rotary International at the Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain’s Le Med restaurant last Wednesday.

The clubs involved were the Rotary Club of Manama, Rotary Club of Salmaniya, Rotary Club of Adliya and the Rotaract Club of Bahrain.

The social evening included an open buffet dinner, an international mix of music, dancing, a raffle draw with prizes and concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony.

More than 100 members and guests attended, including US ambassador Justin Siberell and the UN resident coordinator Amin El Shakrani.

The anniversary shows that the legacy of Rotary International is long lasting due to the message of friendship and fellowship all over the world. Rotary has a strong history in Bahrain and, with its continual support of the local community, it will hopefully continue for many years to come.
