German automaker, Daimler AG, is looking towards assembling its Mercedes-Benz luxury brand cars in Egypt in cooperation with a local partner.
A memorandum of understanding was signed with the Egyptian government to improve the company’s market position and to contribute to stabilising the country’s economic environment.
According to Mercedes-Benz executive for production and supply chains, Joerg Burzer, local assembly would mean the company could structure its production network even more flexibly and efficiently and respond even better to the needs of its customers.
The local partner has yet to be named and no information on how many cars would be produced annually has been revealed.
