Ever have a bad feeling about something? Did you see it through or just write it off as irrational?

Some columns ago, I wrote about how I struggle with indecision and explored some reasons why, including how my indecisiveness could well possibly stem from having too many choices. But perhaps also, I don’t rely on my intuition enough.

It is easy to dismiss intuition as something primitive, or favour more rational thinking. But it is a better predictor of which route to take than one might think.

Strong scientific evidence to support intuition exists and various accounts of people’s real life experiences add to its credibility. Listening to your intuition can both alert you when something is wrong and nudge you towards a smart decision. After all, your intuition is but your subconscious mind noticing and taking in background information that you would otherwise miss.

This explains what Steve Jobs long knew to be true that “intuition is a very powerful thing, more powerful than intellect”. So take this as a gentle reminder to trust your gut instinct.
