For more than 15 years, RIA Institute in Adliya has celebrated the United Nation’s International Day of Peace.

We were the first non-profit organisation in Bahrain to stage an event to recognise this day. In our 20th year as one of Bahrain’s foremost inclusive education champions, we are delighted to be marking the occasion once again.

We would like to invite our supporters to come and join in our celebration. Or why not hold your own event?

This year’s theme is Climate Action for Peace and our students will be making a large collage in which “Arty celebrates International Day of Peace”.  The collage was designed by volunteer Sarah Clarke and completed by one of our founding student’s Othmann El Attar, pictured above. In keeping with this year’s theme, RIA students will decorate the image with some of the unwanted t-shirts that Baloo’s Buddies followers have donated.

The children will learn about upcycling and recycling.

Please come along and say hello between 9am and 11am at Villa 2749, Road 2771, Block 327, in Adliya. For details, contact 17716871. For more information about the UN International Day of Peace, check out www.internationaldayofpeace.org

People are cordially invited to attend the American Women’s Association’s (AWA) upcoming VISIONS 2019 Art Exhibition located on the second floor of Harbour Gate, Bahrain Financial Harbour on October 27 to 31.

With all participants living in Bahrain, their widely differing backgrounds mean that each piece of art is the reflection of their personal soul and experience. A wide variety of styles, subjects and approaches, from realism to pure abstraction, will be presented. All pieces on exhibition will be on sale.

We hold this event for two reasons – to showcase AWA’s diverse artistic talents  as well as raise money for our community service fund.

Annually, AWA donates to 30 charities in the kingdom.

AWA is an active and diverse association that brings together women from around the globe, to promote charity, friendship, and cultural understanding.

The exhibition will be open from 10am to 7pm and entrance is free.

Regards

Artist Irina Averinos
