The Coronet Jewellery Company, a division of Aaron Shum Jewellery of Hong Kong, introduced a toilet bowl set with 40,815 diamonds totaling 334.68 carats and valued at US$1.28 million. It was inducted into the Guinness World Records in a ceremony at Dubai’s Amazing Museum and Art Gallery.
The Toilet Bowl was awarded a certificate of authenticity by a representative of Guinness World Records during the ceremony and it represents Coronet’s 10th Guinness World Record.
Previous milestones include an award for the world’s most valuable guitar ($2-million), an 18k gold Gibson guitar set with 400 carats of diamonds. It is also noted for having the most diamonds on a Coca-Cola-inspired handbag set with nearly 10,000 diamonds weighing a total of 120 carats – 8,543 black diamonds and 1,345 colorless diamonds.
Coronet also earned a place in the world record book for the most diamonds set on a mobile phone case – 6,576 diamonds totaling 16.95 carats – and for the most diamonds set on a lipstick case (2,216 diamonds totaling 18.6 carats).
Apparently, the toilet bowl is inspired by Dubai’s rich culture, with gold as a symbol of wealth, strength and success.
The toilet was unveiled by Aaron Shum, president of Coronet and The Amazing Museum & Art Gallery Dubai, along with Tareq, the chief executive officer of Korooti.
According to Aaron, the idea of the diamond toilet was inspired from the lyrics of Andy Lau’s Chinese song Toilet where he sings the words ‘Toilet is your friend’.
The Amazing Museum is adorned with 10 Guinness World Records made with diamonds. The toilet will reportedly be on display at the museum for a month.
