The Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF) has distributed more than 250 dry ration food supply kits over the last two weeks as part of its Covid-19 community outreach initiative, under the patronage of the Indian Embassy to Bahrain, writes Naman Arora.

The ICRF kits include dals, rice, eggs, milk, wheat flour and salt and each is sufficient for up to four individuals for two weeks. The kits, in total, provide for more than 1,000 Indian expatriates in need.

This is part of the organisation’s Covid-19 outreach initiatives, which include mental well-being awareness, multi-lingual Covid-19 awareness videos and distribution of reusable face masks to labourers.

Aruldas Thomas, chairman of ICRF, said: “Anyone in real need of food rations please contact us or pass along our contact details to those in need. The call has to be direct from the beneficiary for genuineness and validation purposes. We shall do everything possible to make sure every genuine request is addressed.

“In addition, mental well-being flyers are published and promoted on social media widely. Awareness videos in various Indian languages are prepared and circulated widely. Multi language flyers are also being printed and distributed. And finally, we are in discussion with multiple suppliers to get reusable face masks to distribute to labourers in various parts of Bahrain.”
