When people started remote working, many ditched their business attire for lounge wear since they didn’t see a need to dress up office-style at home.
With business slowly bouncing back, more people are returning to work which means it’s time to suit up. However, it’s not necessarily an ideal time to do so as summer has set in and everyone in Bahrain knows how the sweltering season can affect a suit.
To those that love wearing a suit to work, do not fret as Behnood Javaherpour, the founder and creative director of home-grown Middle Eastern fashion house BEHNOODE, has a few tricks up his sleeves on how to keep suits in tip-top shape during the coming hot months.
Benhood, who grew up in a creative household full of design and studied fashion in Italy, said: “Staying stylish in your suit during the summer’s sizzling months is of the utmost importance to a fashion conscious individual who will always look dapper and trendy whilst adapting his or her style accordingly to the seasons.
“Maintenance of your suit is vital to ensure its longevity and appearance.”
The luxury brand was established in Napoli, Italy and after years of successful business, it extended its reach to the Middle Eastern market. Behnood creates tailor-made garments that are said to be popular amongst young professional men and women.
Here are his six tips:
1. Storage is vital: Make sure that your garments are placed on high-quality hangers which are the correct size for your suit either 18 inches or 22 inches wide.
2. Cover it up: Put a breathable protective garment cover over your suits. This will keep it free from dust and discolouring.
3. Steam away: Air and allow your suit to breathe for 24 hours after wearing it. Then try to steam the garment to remove any wrinkles in the fabric.
4. Dry clean less: Chemicals from laundromats can can cause damage to the natural fibres of the suit. Hence, do not dry clean too often. It can also affect the overall appearance of the garment so it’s advisable to only dry clean when needed.
5. A brush up: Remove any dirt or debris from your suit by using a quality brush that’s gentle on the fabric. There are so many small particles stuck inside the fabrics. Give the suit a good brush before storing it.
6. Space is key: Make sure to give your suit ample space in your wardrobe to allow it to hang properly. The suit should have enough room to breathe to avoid wrinkles.
Use these tricks of the trade and never worry about your suit losing its lustre again.
