As people around the world stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, artists from across the kingdom have joined the global outcry with thought-provoking pieces, prints and products in support of the struggle.
Designers and illustrators participated in the #Art_For_Palestine social media campaign aimed at unifying artists’ efforts of drawing attention about the Palestinian plight or funds to aid different charities.
“Painters, designers, illustrators and artists of all kinds have been sharing their Palestinian-inspired artwork in support,” said 30-year-old Bahraini designer Mohammed Al Majed who created an Arabic alphabet poster using words that represent Palestine.
“After viewing all these amazing artists standing together for war-stricken Palestine, I thought we could reach even more people by putting all our work under one umbrella – hash-tagging #Art_For_Palestine.
“That way we can all spread the message so that it’s louder, stronger and reaches even further.”
The hash-tag campaign kicked off on May 15 and ended yesterday. However, many artists in Bahrain and abroad are still drawing attention to the Palestinian plight.
“Artists from Tunisia, Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman and Bahrain have all been using this tag and it can be found on more than 1,000 posts on Instagram.
“Together we are delivering our support and solidarity to the Palestinian people through art, that we are with them in spirit and that they are not forgotten.”
More than 250 people were killed, the vast majority of them Palestinians, in 11-days of violence which were deemed the deadliest Israeli-Palestinian fighting in seven years.
Israel had unleashed hundreds of air strikes against militant targets in Gaza causing $40 million worth of damage to the industry, $22m to the power sector and $27m to agricultural facilities.
Palestinians have already received some pledges of financial help for reconstruction.
