The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca) and the US Embassy in Bahrain are showcasing a range of films for movie lovers to enjoy online.
The American Film Showcase, which will be held until Monday, will feature award-winning contemporary American documentaries, independent fiction films and documentary know-how to audiences around the world, via the electronic platform entitled Eventive.
The showcase, which is funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the US Department of State, is produced by the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts (SCA).
The first film feature that was showcased yesterday was called The Dominican Dream by Jonathan Hook about Felipe Lopez, who was hailed as ‘The Dominican Michael Jordan’.
Today, movie buffs can delight in Midge Costin’s Making the Waves movie which reveals the hidden power of sound in cinema. It also introduces viewers to the unsung heroes who create it and features insights from legendary directors with whom they collaborate.
The other films on show include:
u 27 May: Cinemability – A documentary highlighting people with disabilities in the media industry.
u 28 May: Make it Work – A four-part docu-series on innovation.
u 29 May: ATTLA – A movie about Alaskan Native dogsled racer George Attla.
u 30 May: She Did That – A documentary exploring the passionate pursuits of Black women and their entrepreneurship journeys.
u 31 May: Moonlight Sonata – The story of a deaf boy growing up, a deaf man growing old and of Ludwig van Beethoven.
