The Bahrain Paralympic Committee (BPC) has revealed the official logo of the upcoming 2021 Asian Youth Para Games.
The multi-sport event for athletes with disability is being staged in Bahrain for the first time from November 28 until December 7.
The logo features an athlete in a wheelchair and one with a prosthetic leg jumping over the number one that symbolises a barrier.
It intends to show the sustainable development regarding gender equality and health awareness among the differently-abled.
An estimated 800 athletes aged under 20 are expected to compete in nine sports – athletics, badminton, boccia, goalball, para taekwondo, powerlifting, swimming, table tennis and wheelchair basketball.
“The vision of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty King Hamad for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, and chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, gave the Paralympic Committee the motivation to work on hosting a huge event as the Para Games by following the international standards which made Bahrain the capital of Youth and Sports,” said Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, BPC president.
He also praised the support of Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports and the president of Bahrain Athletics Association, which, he said, will ensure appropriate care is given to all athletes.
