A team of 20 Rotaract members is hoping to bring water to an underserved community at the end of this Ramadan, in the hopes of uplifting the area.

The Rotaract Bahrain team will be building a water pump, planting trees and laying out irrigation channels to distribute water to fields near Obodanase during their anticipated week-long stay from tomorrow until May 4 in Ghana.

The team of 20 will also be distributing school supplies, lunch and Ramadan boxes during their stay, alongside an educational syllabus for those in Grades 1 to 6.

A recreational area where children can play and study is expected to grow around the pump in the area, which will be maintained by the local church and mosque.

Throughout their stay, the team has a series of activities planned, including educational sessions for the children in the area and a special Eid celebration.

On Eid, the team is also hoping to draw water from the pump and hoist the Bahrain flag in the area.

The Rotaract team has signed a club co-operation pact with the Rotaract Club of Adenta Central, as well as a district level agreement, to foster local development in the area.

Rotaract president Tanima Chakravorty also extended her gratitude to everyone who made the project possible, including core committee members such as Paa Kwesi, treasurer Hisang Kewalram, social media team members Anton Miraj and Madhu Sankar, international committee director Zazo Jamal and sergeant-at-arms Hassam Hameed as well as all sponsors and volunteers from across Bahrain and Ghana.

Anton is also going to be filming a documentary about the project during the seven days, which will be released after the team returns to Bahrain, having nurtured a community, one drop at a time.
