The man who sold his skin

This week, join the Bahrain Cinema Club in Juffair for a screening of The Man Who Sold His Skin, a beautiful internationally co-produced film about Sam Ali, a young sensitive and impulsive Syrian, who left his country for Lebanon to escape the war.

In a bid to be able to travel to Europe and live with the love of his life he accepts a deal to have his back tattooed by one of the world’s most controversial contemporary artists. Turning his own body into a prestigious piece of art, Sam however comes to realise that his decision might actually mean anything but freedom.

Directed by Kaouther Ben Hania, the 104-minute film was nominated for an Oscar for Best International Feature Film. At Venice Film Festival the director won the Edipo Re Award and the film won the Venice Horizons Award for Best Actor.
