Food lovers from across the kingdom enjoyed Bahrain-based baker Mubina Maqbool’s recent book launch featuring an interactive panel, a cake cutting ceremony and a dinner full of memorable moments and laughs.

The Indian mother-of-two who lives in West Riffa unveiled her second book Cakes, Desserts and Beyond at the Ramee Grand Hotel and Spa in Seef.

More than 75 individuals interested in cooking and baking attended the event along with the guest of honour, Huda Darwish, a senior radio presenter and producer on 93.3FM who is  currently hosting Star Café.

“It was an interactive event,” said Mubina, the founder of her home-based business Melting Moments. “We had panellists who spoke on the topic of ‘How food and desserts connect us and make us one big global family’.

“The panellists who spoke were from various fields including entrepreneurs, company directors, restaurant owners and university professors.

“I loved hearing stories and testimonials from loyal customers and dessert connoisseurs. There were many testimonials from friends who are users of my first cookbook A Confectioner’s Secrets and from everyone who has tasted my cakes and desserts.”

The 270-page comprehensive guide to making beautiful fluffy cakes and delicious desserts features 58 exciting recipes that are currently trending, using reinvented classical flavours.

It includes a glossary with an A to Z guide of terms, terminology, ingredients, tools and equipment used in the scope of this cookbook. There is also a compelling story being told with each recipe through an engaging headnote.

“This book is a memoir of my baking journey,” added Mubina.

“It has been shaped by the people I have shared it with, the places I’ve travelled to and the desserts I was fascinated with. The evocative photography guides you in styling and making captivating desserts. Also, the book will help users foster real connections through their love for desserts. Sharing of desserts has brought people together since the beginning of time. This is how we make friends, nurture relationships, celebrate milestones, mend conflicts and feel gratitude for life.”
